The Audix OM7 is a handheld hypercardioid dynamic microphones optimized for clear reproduction of high-level sources such as vocals, speech, horns, guitars, and drums in live sound, studio sessions, and broadcast applications. It boasts low handling noise and a hypercardioid polar pattern, which is effective in minimizing residual ambience and feedback caused by nearby monitors and speakers. The dynamic element's low-mass diaphragm responds quickly to transients and handles sound pressure levels up to 144 dB. In order to accommodate loud sound sources and deliver high gain before feedback, the OM7's output is approximately ten decibels lower than that of traditional dynamic mics.
It produces a frequency response of 48 Hz to 19 kHz with a mild rise in the low-mid frequencies and a wide presence boost. The gold-plated XLR 3-pin output ensures compatibility with most microphone preamps and mixer inputs, and the zinc alloy body with a dent-resistant steel mesh grille provides road-ready protection and durability. The OM7 was designed, assembled, and tested in the USA, and ships with a microphone clip and a carrying pouch.
- Ideal for vocals, speech, horns, guitars, flute, percussion, and drums
- Hypercardioid polar pattern provides off-axis rejection of over 30 dB and extremely high gain before feedback
- 48 Hz to 19 kHz frequency response with a mild rise in the low-mid frequencies for added body, and a presence boost for high-end clarity
- VLM Type C capsule delivers great transient response
- High maximum SPL of 144 dB easily handles vocals, drums, and amplified instruments
- Unconventionally low output level (8 to 10 dB lower than typical dynamic microphones) serves as a natural pad at the capsule in order to maintain high fidelity at the source
- Intentionally low output level makes the OM7 best suited for use with mixing consoles and mic preamps that have plenty of headroom to compensate for the OM7's low output
- Rugged zinc alloy casing with a dent-resistant steel mesh grille
- Gold-plated XLR 3-pin connector for optimal conductivity and compatibility with most microphone preamps
