Tri-band support in the RT-AX92U gives you three separate bands for your devices to connect to. You get a single 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands. 2x2 MU-MIMO support on the 2.4 GHz band and one of the 5 GHz bands is joined by 4x4 MU-MIMO support on the second 5 GHz band. This gives you a total of 8 dedicated simultaneous download/upload streams for your laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other devices.

As OFDMA sub-divides data for simultaneous transmission, it also divides channels into sub-channels. These sub-channels have a smaller bandwidth to enable them to travel farther throughout your home.

Using Target Wake Time (TWT) technology, the RT-AX92U can help preserve the battery life of your mobile devices. Rather than devices always being in standby mode, waiting for signals from the router, TWT schedules designed intervals for the devices to wake up and receive information. This ability lets mobile devices sleep, reducing power consumption.

With support for ASUS's AiMesh technology, the RT-AX92U can be combined with additional RT-AX92U routers, or other AiMesh-compatible routers and extenders, to fully blanket your home with powerful Wi-Fi signals. The connected mesh network gives you the ability to use a single SSID so you can roam your home with mobile devices without having to reconnect to different networks. It also lets you setup an SSID per band (2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz) for more manual control of how your devices connect.

When used in an AiMesh environment, you can utilize existing in-wall wired Ethernet jacks in your home to handle backhaul communication between routers. This frees up all three bands of the RT-AX92U for connected devices, providing them with increased signal stability.

High ping and lag are the bane of online gamers, trading in a fast-paced, fun experience for a slow and aggravating waste of time. That's why ASUS uses adaptive QoS technology to prioritize game packets within the router to maximize speed and stability, and built-in wtfast works to seek out and secure the shortest server path for the lowest ping times.

Use port aggregation to increase your internet and network speeds. You can combine two 1 Gb/s LAN ports for a 2 Gb/s connection to your network. You can also combine the single WAN port with a LAN port for 2 Gb/s internet connections, giving you the ability to utilize speeds over 1 Gb/s from your internet service provider. Please note that WAN aggregation requires that the modem supports the 802.3ad protocol, and for cable modems, DOCSIS 3.1 support is required.
